Why El Chaltén
El Chaltén is a small mountain village at the northern end of Los Glaciares National Park, built almost entirely around trekking. It sits at the base of the Fitz Roy massif — a cluster of granite towers that define one of the most iconic skylines in Patagonia. The main trails, Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre, are accessible directly from town. The village itself is compact, with a handful of lodges, a few restaurants, and gear shops lining the main street. Most visitors come to walk, and the terrain delivers.
